Our state of the art Gantt chart

Post by s.habiger »

Hi,

I have a question.

We are using Bryntum Gantt and the "Critical Path" and the handling of the task durations makes me wonder a little bit.

Why is the weekend not respected? And why does the critical path does not include the previous task?

Thanks in advance.

Hey s.habiger,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you please provide more details about how your Gantt is configured? Perhaps provide a minimal test case so we can check what the data looks like there?

Best regards,
Márcio

Hi Márcio,

As far as I can tell, the behavior is related to the tasks being marked as "manuallyScheduled".

If I remove the "manuallyScheduled" property, Saturday and Sunday are no longer included in the calculation of working days. In that case, the task expands over the weekend and is immediately categorized as critical.

The question now is whether there is a configuration that allows both of the following:

  • Tasks can still be shifted freely
  • If a task overlaps with a weekend, it is extended accordingly

Alternatively:

Weekends are never included in the calculation of slack time

Attached is a minimal CodePen example:

Hi Sebastian!

Tasks can still be shifted freely
If a task overlaps with a weekend, it is extended accordingly

This is that you need https://bryntum.com/products/gantt/docs/api/Gantt/model/ProjectModel#field-skipNonWorkingTimeWhenSchedulingManually

All the best,
Alex Lazarev
